Facing your fears 03/11/2008
So, the other day as I was waiting in the orthodontist office, I heard a girl say that she would never ski again because she broke her ankle. I thought that was very sad and even a little silly. I broke my arm standing on a stool, does that mean I should lower all of our cabinets? I injured my tail bone walking down the stairs and couldn't go to band for a week, do I install ramps instead? I don't know how many times I've injured myself in dance, should I quit? They were all freak accidents! In the United States of America alone, every 13 minutes somebody is killed in a car crash. In a year, a single year, 365 days, 1.2 million people world wide are killed from car crashes. That's 1.2 million people no longer among us because of a simple accident, a twist of fate, a miscalculation. Did their loved ones buy horses to ride around town, giving up cars completely? There are people out there who receive life threatening injuries while doing things they loved, sky-diving, parachuting, rafting, whatever, and they continue doing those things! Perhaps if we all were just a little bit braver, a little bit stronger...Just because you get struck by lightning while walking your dog, do you buy a cat? CommentsLeave a Reply |
